Research Projects
B.A. Senior Thesis: “Las hijas latinas de la película: A Rooted Theory on the Representation of Latina Characters in Children’s Animated Media and the Rejection of Postfeminist Thought,” Dec 2022 •Research paper establishing and applying my original film theory on how Latina daughterhood is represented in children’s media and how it reveals a unique perspective on what kinds of harmful stereotypes are being perpetuated in modern culture about young girls of color. Additionally, what we perceive as “postfeminism” is actually the lack of media creators accurately addressing societal issues and world biases which stunts the growth of young viewers into becoming critical thinkers and lifelong learners of the cultures around them. Scientific Review: “Analysis of unregulated nutritional supplements and their hidden chemical properties,” Dec 2020 •This academic review focuses on the inconsistent federal regulation of the herbal supplements and natural remedies on the market. Using analytical techniques like ion chromatography and gas chromatography columns, the real chemical properties have been discovered. My research discusses five major chemical components that have been found in harmful, even lethal, amounts in today’s nutritional supplements: nitrate content, nitrite content, mycotoxins, fungal contamination, and heavy metal concentrations. These studies reveal the true health risks of taking daily supplements that at best have no effect and at worst can lead to premature death.
